HYDERABAD: Christian Minority Finance Corporation (CMFC), a long felt need of the Christians, has finally been set up. The State Government issued a G.O. to this effect. The proposal was cleared at a recent Cabinet meeting.

According to Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Ali Shabber, formation of a corporation exclusively for Christians would facilitate a focussed approach to address the problems being faced by the Christian community.

Till now, the welfare of the Christians used to be taken care of by the AP Minorities Finance Corporation (APMFC).

“Recently, we released Rs 75 lakh for mass marriages of Christians, Rs 2 crore for facilitating trips to Israel and Rs 2.5 crore for renovation and construction of churches. All this was done under the APMFC. Such activities, henceforth, would be taken care of by the CMFC,’’ the minister said.
