KARIMNAGAR: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd Chief General Manager (CGM) A Manohar Rao has called upon family members of Singareni workers to observe its formation day like a festival.

He inaugurated the celebrations at a function at Godavarikhani here today. Overcoming initial hiccups the company has been running in profits ever since it began production in 1889, he pointed out.

After going through a photo exhibition showcasing the company’s open cast mines, underground mines, power stations and the safety measures in place, he told them that they should meet the target of producing 50.4 million tonnes of coal by the year end.

Several cultural programmes and competitions were conducted for the family members of Singareni workers and winners were given away prizes.

Singareni formation day was observed at 12 other places in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Warangal and Khammam districts.

SCCL has 34 underground mines and 13 open cast mines producing on an average 50 million tonnes of coal every year.
