HYDERABAD: The Joint Action Committee of all political parties passed an unanimous resolution today demanding the Centre to clarify on formation of Telangana state immediately. The JAC called denizens of Telangana region to observe complete bandh on December 30 to demonstrate their commitment for the cause. They called upon the leaders at district and village level to organise rallies and dharnas in all villages across the region on December 28 and 29.

Announcing the resolutions of the JAC meeting held here today, JAC convener Prof Kodandaram said that the people’s representatives of all political parties including Congress, TDP, TRS, PRP and BJP have decided to meet the Speaker of the State Assembly and the Chairman of the Legislative Council requesting them to accept their resignations immediately. The JAC also wanted the State Government to withdraw false cases filed against 900 lawyers who called on students of Osmania University during their agitation.

They urged all advocates working in Telangana region to boycott their duties at the earliest.

Criticising the partial attitude of the State Government towards agitations in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions for united Andhra Pradesh, the JAC pointed out that more than 5,000 cases have been registered against students in Telangana region within five days since December 23.

They demanded that the State Government should withdraw all the cases registered against students and release them immediately. They also wanted the Government to withdraw all additional forces deployed at various universities in Telangana region and Hyderabad. The JAC leaders called upon their cadre and students to organise peaceful agitation and avoid violence.

Earlier, TDP Politburo member N Janardhan Reddy said that the TDP leaders from Telangana region have decided to join the JAC based on the popular sentiment and aspirations of the people in the region. In tune with the feelings of the people and their desire for a separate Telangana state, the TD leaders have decided to join the JAC. ``Along with other political parties, organisations and like-minded people, we will work for realising the dream of Telangana people,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that a delegation of the JAC would meet Chief Minister K Rosaiah tomorrow and submit a charter of demands.
