HYDERABAD: The State Government issued orders for acquisition of about 1404.14 acres for Vadarevu Port and Shipyard and about 1853.84 acres for the Industrial Corridor for the prestigious Vadarevu Nizampatnam Industrial Corridor Project (VANPIC) in Prakasam district. In two seprate GOs, the State Government ordered the District Collector to issue Draft Declaration for the acquisition of 808.67 acres in Pullaripalem village and 297.87 acres in Motupalli village for Vadarevu Port and 297.60 acres in Motupalli village for shipyard.

Similarly, for the Industrial Corridor, about 575.63 acres in Nayunipalli village, 462.95 acres in Pullaripalem and 815 acres in Motupalli vilages have been identified for the draft declaration in the district.

Rejecting the objections raised by the land-losers, the Government defended its orders stating that the proposed project would help the overall socio-economic development of the districts as well as the neighbouring districts.

Vadarevu seaport at Vadarevu in Prakasam and Nizampatnam seaport at Nizampatnam in Guntur district along with port-based industrial corridor are the components of VANPIC.

VANPIC project is promoted by Matrix Exports headed by Nimmagadda Prasad popularly known as Matrix Prasad, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and Government of Ras Al Khaimah, an United Arab Emirates Country.

The project’s aim is to develop an all-weather deep water port. Connected by road 2 km from NH-214 A and by rail line on Chennai-Howrah main line, the project is centrally located and near cargo-generating centers like Hyderabad, Tadepalligudem Guntur and Nagpur.

Air connectivity will be provided by the proposed airport near VANPIC project. The project is near the Krishna-Godavari basin, where gas and oil are explored.

Repair of on-shore and off-shore rigs and ships, shipbuilding at the shipyard would be undertaken. A mega thermal power project based on imported coal, wind energy, renewable energy and solar energy are also envisaged in VANPIC project.

Specialised industrial parks, which include Textiles & Apparel park, Agro & Marine Park, Pharma Park, Automotives Park, Free Trade Zone, and an Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Park would also come up as part of the project.

A captive airport at project site serving cargo and passenger demand arising from VANPIC project and for air traffic into Chennai, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam is also planned.
