VISAKHAPATNAM: Tekkali MLA K Revathipathi died of a cardiac problem at a hospital in Visakhapatnam today. He was 50.

The Congress MLA from Srikakulam district complained of chest pain on Sunday and was admitted to the Care Hospital here. As his condition was critical Dr Somaraju flew to Vizag from Hyderabad to treat him. The end came at 1.40 pm.

He was to be sworn in as legislator in the Assembly tomorrow.

A doctor by profession, Revathipathi was born on Dec 7, 1959 at Surjini village of Meliaputti mandal in Srikakulam district. After completing his MBBS, he started a nursing home at Palasa in 1985. He was elected as an MLA from Tekkali in 1999 on TDP ticket against Hanumantu Appayya Dora. In 2004, he contested unsuccessfully as an Independent.

In recent election, he contested on Congress ticket and won over TDP’s K Acchannaidu.

Funeral will take place at his village tomorrow.

Governor N D Tiwari, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, ministers J Geeta Reddy, A Ramanarayana Reddy and K Surekha, and TDP Pesident N Chandrababu Naidu mourned Revatipathi.
