Rishikesh temple festival begins

The annual Brahmotsavams of Venkateswara temple at Andhra Ashram in Rishikesh of Uttarakhand commenced.

TIRUPATI: The annual Brahmotsavams of Venkateswara temple at Andhra Ashram in Rishikesh of Uttarakhand commenced today on a traditional note.

Marking the beginning of the nine-day festival, Dhwajarohanam was performed at 8:10 am in the auspicious Midhuna Lagnam.

Amidst chanting of Vedic hymns, Garuda Dhwajam was hoisted atop Dhwajastambham. Scores of devotees witnessed the celestial event.

In the evening, Lord Malayappa Swamy and His Consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi were taken on Pedda Sesha Vahanam.

Women offered harathi to the Lord. Cultural troupes performed Kolatam and bhajans during the procession.

TTD assistant executive officer Rama Rao, deputy executive officer Damodaram,PRO T Ravi, priests Chandramouli Swamy and Sharath Swamy participated in the procession.
