RAJAHMUNDRY: Seven Assembly segments represented by ruling party leaders, including ministers, disappeared in delimitation of constituencies as the number of Assembly segments came down to 19 from 21 in East Godavari district.
As a result of delimitation, the Burugupudi constituency represented by Congress MLA Chitturi Ravindra, the Kadiyam constituency represented by Minister Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao, the Sampara constituency represented by Anisetti Bullabbayi Reddy, the Tallarevu constituency represented by Dometi Venkateswarlu, the Alamuru constituency represented by Bikkina Krishnarjuna, the Allavaram constituency represented by Minister Gollapalli Surya Rao and the Nagaram constituency represented by the lone woman legislator Pamula Rajeswari Devi, disappeared. The Allavaram constituency represented by TDP candidate Chinnam Babu Ramesh also disappeared.
The new constituencies formed in the place of those that were removed include Rampachodavaram in the place of Allavaram, Rajahmundry rural, Rajanagaram, Kakinada rural and Mandapet.
Delimitation left intact the Tuni Assembly segment represented by TDP politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. The Allavaram Assembly segment represented by TDP MLA Chinnam Babu Ramesh was changed as Rampachodavaram segment. As a result of the reduction of two Assembly seats and a triangular fight, the number of contesting candidates is likely to increase in the polls.
