Survey puts Congress tally at 155 Assembly, 33 LS seats

HYDERABAD: Congress leader and sitting Vijayawada MP L Rajagopal has released the findings of a survey conducted by two private organisations which put the tally of the Congress at 155 (Assembly) and 33 (Lok Sabha).

According to him, the survey made it clear that all the sitting Congress MPs will win the election including Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy in Chevella Lok Sabha seat. The survey predicted defeat of TRS chief K Chndarasekhara Rao but said that the TRS secretary general Vijayashanthi is likely to win from Medak.

Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy and the names of around more than 12 ministers were missing in the list of winners but 21 ministers had bright chances of winning the elections.

According the report, of the 42 Lok Sabha seats Congress would win 33 Lok Sabha seats and in six seats, there will be neck and neck fight between the Congress its rivals.

As far as elections to the Assembly are concerned, of the 294 seats, the Congress will 155 and was locked in keen fight in 54 constituenices.

In Telangana region of the 119 Assembly constituencies, the Congress will win 38 seats and it is in a keen fight in 27 seats. In Rayalaseema region, of the 52 seats, the Congress will win 32, in Coastal Andhra, of the 123 seats, the ruling party would corner 85 seats.

Disclosing the findings of the survey, Rajagopal said that the Congress under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and PCC president D Srinivas would retain the power in the State with positive vote.

He recalled that in 2004 elections Congress party came to the power on a negative vote.

The leader felt that the Congress would be able to win 36 to 37 Lok Sabha seats and 179 to 189 Assembly seats in the State.

‘Today’s Chanakya’ and `Flash Team’ (Eluru-based organisation) conducted the survey periodically from 2007 in the State and the final survey was conducted on the polling day in the State on April 16 and 23.

The organisations collated the data then and came out with the reports.

Earlier these organisations conducted surveys in nine states in the run up to the Assembly elections and the findings matched with the results in toto in eight states.

The Congress leader said that he would submit the report to the Chief Minister and the PCC president.
