KARIMNAGAR: CPI State secretary Narayana blamed Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TR S) president K Chandra Shekar Rao for the rout of Mahakutami in the 2009 general elections. Rao’s blackmail politics had been one of the major reasons for the defeat, he felt. The TRS chief ’s inconsistent remarks on continuing with the Grand Alliance and bargain over the seat-sharing issue have created utter confusion among the voters, he said.

Speaking to mediapersons at the CPI office here today, Narayana felt that Mahakutami would have formed the government in the State if Rao had not been inconsisent.

The CPI leader charged the TR S chief with betraying the belief of Telanganites in the party in achieving a separate State. He also felt that Rao should not have revealed the details of discussions among Grand Alliance partners to the public and other parties.

He also felt that the Mahakutami should have announced the names of the candidates well before the Congress did it. The internal bickerings in Grand Alliance have cost the party dearly, he said.

Narayana also faulted TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for remarks at the party’s Mahanadu that the TDP has suffered defeat only due to the partners of Grand Alliance.

The CPI leader reiterated that the party will continue its protests against the government’s antipeope policies. ``The party will fight for this purpose along with the TDP and if required, with the PRP also,’’ he said.

On the defeat of TRS candidate Vinod Kumar from Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency, Narayana felt that the TRS chief should not have gone for a friendly contest in Husnabad Assembly constituency by fielding Lakshmikanta Rao, which was against the rules of Mahakutami. The Husnabad seat was allocated to the CPI as part of seat-sharing pact of the Grand Alliance and as TRS’ Lakshmikanta Rao was on a friendly contest the CPI activists had not campaigned for even Vinod Kumar at the Parliamentary-level, he said.

And the Congress benefited in the confusion, he felt.

Narayana felt that the electorate had voted against the BJP-led NDA and Third Front and in this process even set aside the rampant corruption by the Congress Government.

He demanded the Central Government to take special interest in the issue of assaults on Indian students in Austraila and other foreign countries.

Former MLA Chada Venkata Reddy an party district secretary Venkataswamy were present.
