TIRUMALA: The Congress Government, headed by YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had given a big gift to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in the form of temple jurisdiction.
When the Madras Presidency held the Tirupati municipal elections in 1907, it prepared a document specifying nearly 3 km area surrounded by the sacred temple comes under its purview. Under Regulation V11 of 1817 of the Madras Presidency, the temple management was carried on under the control of the Board of Revenue through the Collector of North Arcot District.
In 2007, the State Government issued a GO declaring that Seven Hills border areas in Chittoor and Kadapa districts come under the jurisdiction of TTD. Without any delay, the GO was implemented.
