HYDERABAD:  The Industrial Security Task Force (ISTF) set up by the State Government to coordinate between the police machinery and information technology (IT) firms in view of the frequent bandhs and protests for a separate Telangana has decided to prepare a digital directory of all industries and IT companies in the twin cities.

The directory will be jointly prepared by representatives of the industry and the ISTF, which comprises some police officials. A meeting was held today between the officials and representatives of industry.

Inspector General of Police and Nodal Officer of ISTF, T Krishna Prasad, said in a press release that e-groups would be formed and information disseminated through SMSes for quick action. ``It is necessary to have a

database of companies and their locations besides information on the number of entry and exit gates of each company. This will help us evacuate staff in an emergency,’’ Krishna Prasad said. The information would be kept confidential and would be on the intranet of the police department. The fire service department could access  the information.

During the meeting, the police advised industrialists to increase the number of security personnel. Some companies have volunteered to provide patrol vehicles to the police. ``The next meeting will be held on January 30 to discuss the security measures to be intensified,’’ Krishna Prasad added.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industries, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce for Industries, NASSCOM and other industry-related associations.
