HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India (Marxist- Leninist) central committee has rejected the canards being spread over the death of Kanu Sanyal, the legendary leader of Naxalbari movement. CPI(ML) national leader Aravind Sinha dismissed as baseless the reports that Kanu Sanyal hanged himself. ``The corporate media and the ruling class were responsible for such misinformation.
Our party is probing into the circumstances that led to the death of Sanyal. We will let the people know the fact after the probe,'' Aravind said at a meeting organised here to condole the death of Sanyal.
Aravind Sinha said that a section of the media reported that Sanyal lost faith in the Naxalbari movement and that he was frustrated and committed suicide. ``But, the truth is otherwise. Sanyal never lost his faith in revolutionary movement,'' he said.
Sanyal attended the CPI(ML) central committee meeting, which was held in his native village from Feb 16 to 20. In that meeting Sanyal, enumerating his experiences in Nandigram and Siliguri movements, pointed out that no political party in the country was interested in protecting the interests of peasants, unemployed and unorganised sectors, Aravind said.
He added that Sanyal gave a message in the CC meeting that the time was ripe to take the revolutionary movement to take a new turn in the country.
Sanyal also called upon all the revolutionary groups to come to a common platform to continue class struggle, as the CPI(ML) alone could not fight against the working class and imperialistic forces, Aravind Kumar said. Some parties said that Sanyal had failed in his approach.
There was no basis in such arguments, Aravind said.
``Unlike the Left Front which shared power and pocketed money by enjoying democratic posts, Sanyal never compromised in his principles,'' Aravind said and added that the Left Front had failed and Sanyal was succeeded with his relentless fight for working class.
Aravind said that Sanyal chose a path that was against rule class and the ultra-Left groups, which believed in armed-struggle.
CPI(ML) national leader Subrato Basu said that at a time the international communism level was receiving setbacks, which had a negative impact on Indian Communist movement, the death of Sanyal was irreparable. He said that Sanyal was firm in achieving New Democratic Revolution (NDR).
Basu recalled Sanyal's association with Andhra Pradesh, particularly with the Parvatipuram conspiracy case.
The Naxalbari movement started by Sanyal was different from the present day Naxalism, he said and added that Naxalism was a brand name given to the terrorist line pursued by some groups. CPI (ML) central committee member P Jaswant Rao, national leaders G Vijayakumar, Shabbir Hussain and others attended.
