KADAPA: Today it was the turn of mayor P Ravindranath Reddy to go on the offensive. He announced that he is preparing to serve legal notices to those who  defamed him by accusing him of irregularities in his fertiliser companies.

Addressing a media conference here today, the mayor said he will not sit idle with opposition parties defaming him.

“I am preparing a list of 48 persons for filing both civil and criminal cases against them,’’ he said. The list includes the names of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Eenadu chief editor Ramoji Rao, TDP leaders Revanth Reddy, CPI state secretary K Narayana, former MLA K Ramakrishna, TDP leaders Bireddy Rajasekhara Reddy, Venugopal Reddy, Congress MLA DL Ravindra Reddy. They have to apologise to me within 15 days or face the court trail and law will take its own course,’’ he said.

The mayor said he was personally targeted and police out of ignorance and over enthusiasm seized the fertiliser lorries and booked cases against him. “I have valid licences for my fertiliser plants. Police out of ignorance booked cases against me and taking advantage of it, the opposition parties are trying to defame me,’’ he said.

Indirectly referring to Mydukur MLA DL Ravindra Reddy, he said that a senior congress leader is involved in the Rs 20-crore handloom society scam in Daimkhanpalle in Khajipet mandal.

He urged chief minister to take action against him.“That person speaks of society and good, but engages in unlawful methods to amass wealth. He will not hesitate to even blackmail ministers to get his way,’’ he said.

The mayor said that he is open to any legal enquiry on his fertiliser plants and that he would leave politics, if charges against him are proved.
