HYDERABAD: Following the recent manhandling of Lok Satta party president Jayaprakash Narayan on the Assembly premises by TRS workers, the party today submitted a memorandum to the director general of police K Aravinda Rao seeking enhanced security cover for LSP leaders and activists.

Demanding immediate arrest of all those involved in the attacks, the Lok Satta working president DVVS Varma said that besides the recent attack in the Assembly, the TRS activists also attacked a peaceful demonstration that was held to protest the  attack on Jayaprakash Narayan in Siddipet on February 17.

‘‘Some of the attackers have been identified and most of them have previous records of violent behaviour. The assault was captured by TV channels,’’ he said.

‘‘These incidents are assault on democracy itself. Despite all blatant provocations, we have appealed to the people not to react violently either in word or deed,’’ Varma said and requested enhanced security cover for leaders.

The DGP is understood to have told the LSP leaders that he would look into the matter and do the needful.
