SANGAREDDY: Following 'Oorura batukamma' (Batukamma in every village), call given by the Telangana Jagruthi, women organised batukamma utsavalu in various places in Medak district on Wednesday.

Jagruthi president and TRS chief KCR's daughter Kalvakunta Kavita participated in the celebrations in Medak town.

In Medak, women, in a large number, took out a procession carrying batukammas on their heads from the Ramalayam temple to the Children's Park and danced and sang songs.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavita said that their organisation was organising the celebrations to make the world know about the significance of batukamma.

Earlier, she spoke to mediapersons at Veldurthi mandal headquarters.

Alleging that the government was foisting cases against Telangana activists, she said none can stop formation of Telangana.

Women teachers in Sangareddy danced batukamma on NH-9 and at the collectorate and this stranded the traffic for nearly 40 minutes.
