‘Polavaram will benefit Telangana, Rayalaseema’

Express News Service

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has criticised  Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhara Rao's stance on the Polavaram irrigation project.

Speaking at an Indiramma Baata programme here on Saturday, he said that once the Polavaram project was completed, the Mahbubnagar constituency being represented by the TRS chief would get irrigation water for an additional 20,000 acres. The project would be beneficial to the Rayalaseema and Telangana regions as well, he said.

Lashing out at Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister said that people had lost faith in Naidu who failed to do justice to agriculture and backward classes. Now, he was trying to get mileage by focusing on those two issues and no one was ready to believe him, Reddy said.

Meanwhile, a TDP delegation led by district president T Sitaramalakshmi and former minister M.Babu met the chief minister and sought dismissal of the tainted ministers, addressing the fee reimbursement issue and completion of the Polavaram project at the earliest. They also requested him to address the situation arising out of the frequent floods to Erra Kaluva in the region.
