Express News Service

Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, who flew to the national capital on Thursday morning as per the summons of the AICC top brass, held hectic parleys with Union finance minister P Chidambaram, defence minister A K Antony and Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad separately on the issues concerning the state.

Soon after landing in Delhi Thursday afternoon, he drove straight to Chidambaram’s ofice and had a 45- minute chat.

During this meeting, apart from apprising the minister of the Congress situation in the state, Kiran Reddy asked more funds from the Centre for pending projects in Andhra Pradesh.

Kiran Reddy is understood to have briefed the Union ministrs about the acute power crisis prevailing in the state and sought immediate help from the Centre.

The chief minister is learnt to have asked for more gas and coal for Andhra Pradesh.  The meeting with Azad is said to have been centred around minister Dharmana Prasada Rao’s resignation and the strong opposition its likely acceptance is receiving from fellow cabinet ministers.

Kiran Reddy is scheduled to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi Friday morning to seek her direction on the issues concerning the state.

He is also likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well. Also in New Delhi, PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana held hectic parleys with AICC emissary Vayalar Ravi. On the other hand, Rajya sabha MP K Chiranjeevi called on Sonia Gandhi at her residence and apprised her of the political situation in the state.

The actor-turned-politician, who used to share his feelings and divulge details of his meeting with the AICC supremo to mediapersons each time he called on her, this time maintained a low profile and did not evince interest in talking about it to scribes.

Former ministers P Shankar Rao and M Satyanarayana Rao also met Sonia Gandhi separately in the Central Hall of Parliament and voiced their concerns about the state of affairs in the party.
