Botcha faults Akbaruddin for crediting Congress schemes to YSR

Express News Service

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Botcha Satyanarayana has said that whatever YS Rajasekhara Reddy did was as a chief minister of the Congress government and the credit must go to the party, not the individual.

In a brief chat with mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, where the PCC chief along with Union minister of state for tourism K Chiranjeevi and Congress leader Marri Sasidhar Reddy came to pay floral tributes to former chief minister Marri Chenna Reddy on his 16th death anniversary on Sunday, he took exception to MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi praising YSR and attributing every good scheme of the government to him.

The PCC chief, who was ill at ease with crediting anything good to YSR, wondered why everything good was being credited to him and bad to the party. It should not be so, he said. “He (YSR) also gave orders pertaining the controversial Bayyaram mining lease and other mines. Why nobody talks of them? One has to speak about the good and bad done by him,” he said.

On the SC, ST Sub-plan, he said that if anyone should be credited, it should be AICC chief Sonia Gandhi made the suggestion and the state government is legalising it.

On party affairs, Botcha  said an extensive meeting of the party cadre, from mandal to state level, will be held in the last week of Dec to discuss party’s position in the mandals and an action plan for strengthening the party from the grassroot level. How to propagate the SC/ST sub-plan will also be discussed.

Botcha said there would be an extensive meeting in Delhi on Money Transfer Scheme on Dec 14 and he would be leading a team of party leaders to it.

Chiranjeevi Clarifies

Union minister Chiranjeevi said he was misquoted in a section of media, as to have claimed to be the person who suggested the SC/ST sub-plan to Sonia Gandhi. “I only said, I had reminded her that something should be done about SC, STs’ welfare,” he said.

He dismissed the reports that he had held a press conference in the CLP office, while YSRCP MLA YS Vijayamma was speaking, as baseless. “I convened the meeting only during lunch break. If there is any mistake it will be mine and not the party’s,” he said.
