Lagadapati rakes up united AP issue again

Express News Service

In an attempt to provoke united Andhra sentiment again, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Tuesday stated the Congress party has plans to pass a resolution in the state Assembly in favour of Samaikhyandhra, if Congress wins majority of seats in the ensuing bypolls.

Addressing people during a poll campaign in Tirupati constituency on Tuesday, the Vijayawada MP said majority of the people’s representatives will meet the party leadership in Delhi and request for an announcement in favour of Samaikhyandhra. “We will not be in a position to pressurise the Centre on Samaikhyandhra in case we lose the bypolls,” he said.

Rajagopal said YSR Congress party leaders were misleading the people by saying that the CBI arrested him to restrict him from participating in the election campaign.

“He is only attempting to encash public sympathy. He wants to get out of the prison and applied for permanent bail, though he had a chance for applying for interim bail,” Rajagopal said.

He alleged that though the YSR Congress Party has been registered as Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party with the Election Commission, they are now trying to garner public support by claiming that it was named after former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
