Express News Service

The sixth phase of land distribution for the landless poor by the state government will take place on November 1. The day is also the Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day.

Announcing it during the collectors and joint collectors’ video conference on Friday, revenue minister N Raghveera Reddy said that during the sixth phase, one lakh acres will be distributed. He asked the officials to immediately hand over the lands that were not given to beneficiaries in the previous five phases.

He said that state government would amend the rules and regulations at the earliest so as to ensure that family members of farmers who had committed suicide could receive pensions, ration cards and other aid from the government.

He directed the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) to conduct a detailed survey and find out if the families of handloom weavers who committed suicide had received the ex-gratia.
