AP Land Management Authority constituted

The CCLA-headed body will finalise land allotments

Express News Service

The state government on Thursday constituted the AP Land Management Authority (APLMA) for allotment of lands for various purposes.

The authority will implement the Land Allotment Policy and replace the Empowered Committee, which hitherto has been finalising land allotments.

The chief commissioner of land administration (CCLA) will be the chairman of the authority. Principal secretaries of revenue, finance, municipal administration & urban development, housing, public enterprises and industries and commerce will be its members. The director-general of Environment Protection Training & Research Institute (EPTRI) and the principal secretary of the department concerned will also be the members.

The authority will process applications and recommend land allotment, monitor utilisation of land for the intended purpose and resumption of land in case of violation of conditions. The director- general of EPTRI or his nominee shall advise the authority on the likely environmental hazards and the impact assessment.

The authority may also engage a Third Party Agency for appraising large and complex projects from the point of justification of the extent of land sought, and of the environmental and zonal regulations. It will establish an online land bank where  comprehensive information on government lands available and allotted shall be hosted along with accurate survey maps.

It will take steps for protecting the government lands either by fencing or building compound walls and for ensuring legal protection of all government lands under litigation. It will also take  necessary action to strengthen the existing land protection cells at the state and district levels, and  make special efforts  to protect the lakes in the Greater Hyderabad limits.
