The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs has recommended infusion of new elements in the training imparted to police cadets at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (NPA) in Hyderabad, particularly elaborate training on intelligence gathering.

In its report to Parliament, the committee headed by BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu urged the government to prod the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to conduct a separate examination to recruit of IPS officers.

The 78-page report of the committee was tabled in Parliament on Friday.

It said a separate examination for IPS officers was necessary to assess their attitude.
