One month after the XVI additional chief metropolitan court directed the police to register cases against MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for his hate speech at a public meeting at Nirmal in December 2012, the Mangalhat police registered a criminal case against him on Monday and took up investigation. Mangalhat inspector G Sridhar said, acting on court directions, they booked Akbaruddin under sections 295-A and 298 of the IPC.
On Jan 4, TDP Mangalhat corporator Raja Singh filed a petition in the court seeking action against Akbar.
