The judicial custody of MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, accused of delivering a hate speech during a public meeting in Nizamabad on Dec 8 last year, has been extended till Feb 26.
First additional judicial magistrate N Amaravati had issued the directions extending the judicial remand of Akbaruddin, here Tuesday, when the latter was produced before her.
In accordance with earlier court directions, forensic experts recorded the voice of Akbaruddin in the presence of the magistrate.
Akbar was asked to read Urdu a newspaper and some Urdu documents. It was the second time that Akbar’s voice was recorded by forensic experts.
On an earlier occasion, Akbar’s voice was recorded on Feb 5 at Nirmal munsif court in Adilabad district. He is currently lodged in Adilabad district jail.
A special team of police personnel went to Adilabad in the early hours of the day to escort Akbaruddin to Nizamabad. Later in the day, he was taken back to Adilabad amid tight security.
Hearing on the bail petition filed by Akbar’s advocates will come up for hearing on Feb 14.
Meanwhile, police, as a precautionary measure, had asked commercial establishments in the town, particularly those near the court complex, to close shop while Akbar’s case hearing was in progress.
