First additional judicial magistrate PR Rajiv on Wednesday sent former Mayor of Kadapa P Ravindranath Reddy to 24-hour police custody.
Immediately after Reddy surrendered before the magistrate on Tuesday, his advocates filed a bail petition in the court on the grounds of ill-health. Police also filed a petition in the court seeking Reddy’s custody and the court adjourned hearing on both the petitions to Wednesday.
After hearing arguments of both sides, the magistrate sent Reddy to 24-hours police custody.
The police will take Reddy into their custody on Thursday and will question him for 24 hours.
Regarding his plea on ill-health, the court directed Kadapa central jail superintendent I Srinivasa Rao to shift Reddy to RIMS in case of any medical emergency.
