Elated over the results in the first phase of elections to panchayats, Telugu Desam party chief N Chandrababu Naidu has said that it was vindication of his claim that during the last nine years no development took place in villages.
Speaking to newsmen at his residence here on Wednesday, he said that new life has to be infused into panchayats for them to become vibrant villages.
Naidu alleged that the Congress had emasculated the panchayat raj institutions in the state over a period of time and recalled how the TDP functioned when it was in power and used to hold elections to them on time.
He said it was necessary that villages should be headed by people of integrity for their all round development.
