APCLC state meet on August 10, 11

A two-day state conference of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) will be held in Hyderabad on August 10 and 11. The organization will evolve a course of action to oppose allotment of natural resources to the corporate sector.

APCLC conducted the 14th Krishna District Committee meet at the Chandra Rajeswara Rao Library here on Sunday. The meeting elected M Krishna Prasad as the president of the district unit. R Sridhar was elected the district secretary.

Addressing the meeting, APCLC state secretary Chilaka Chandrasekhar alleged that the poor are becoming poorer due to the Union government’s new economic policies which allow multinational companies into the country.

Chandrasekhar claimed that the local people have the right on natural resources like gas and others but the government has allotted them to private and corporate companies like the Reliance Industries which are earning huge profits by creating a shortage of gas production.

He announced that APCLC is going to launch agitations with like-minded parties and organisations demanding cancellation of gas allocation to Reliance and using the same to cater to the needs of the common people.
