Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy and Women and Child Welfare Minister V Sunita Lakshma Reddy on Thursday blamed officials’ negligence for the delay in seed distribution.
At a review meeting on seeds and fertiliser distribution in the district, both the ministers said that officials concerned had failed to assess the situation.
Monsoon had arrived in June first week itself unlike the past seven years and farmers started their work accordingly, they pointed out.
They said though well aware of the fact that farmers in Narayankhed and Zaheerabad were cultivating Soya, the agriculture department failed to get seeds from Madhya Pradesh on time. They promised to take up the issue with higher officials.
