Botcha comes under U-fire, family assets attacked

Protestors vented out their anger against Seemandhra leaders by targeting the latter’s residences across the north Coastal Andhra and also the Godavari districts. PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana bore the brunt of the Samaikyandhra agitators’ ire who targeted the properties owned by his family including Satya Engineering College, Satya Cable Vision television office, Satya lodge and Botcha Guru Naidu Degree College in Vizianagaram among others apart from his camp office at Garividi.

Tension prevailed at the residence of Botcha Satyanarayana on the MG Road in Vizianagaram  as thousands of agitators gathered in large number by 9 am. They laid siege to the house and attempted to ransack the premises. The police who received the information rushed to the spot and tried to prevent them but in vain. The protestors attacked the police with sticks and threw stones turning the locality into a battle ground. For more than three hours, the agitators have completely blocked the area preventing the police from reaching the house. As the mob did not relent, the police caned the protestors and also fired over 10 rounds of tear gas to disperse them.

Even as the battle between the police and the agitators, largely comprising students, went on, a group of agitators split from the main group and attacked the district cooperative central bank building and damaged the windowpanes and also furniture in the office. Another group attacked Satya Engineering College and a lodge belonging to Satyanarayana’s family in Vizianagaram. They damaged the computers and other furniture on the college campus apart from damaging the cable office. The residence and camp office of Botcha Satyanarayana at Garividi was also attacked by the Samaikyandhra protagonists.

Another group of students ransacked a degree college belonging to the Botcha family and burnt the furniture in open. Late in the evening, the office of Satya Cable TV was attacked by the agitators who set it afire. It took more than four hours for the fire fighters to extinguish the fire which damaged property worth over Rs 1 crore.

Some wine shops, reportedly belonging to the family of the PCC chief, were attacked.
