CM announces sops for rain victims

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has announced Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) houses for all those whose houses had been fully damaged, 20 kg rice and Rs 5,000 for utensils to each family affected in the recent rain in Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts.

He also announced Rs 1.2 crore for Narayanapuram canal repairs and a new project in that area. The chief minister toured flood-affected areas in Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts on Wednesday.

He inspected crop damage and water-logged areas in the two districts. Kiran Reddy interacted with farmers and other victims at Voppangi village in Srikakulam district.

The chief minister said Rs 23 crore were released for Srikakulam district as input subsidy. The amounts will be credited to farmers’ accounts, which ws delayed due to employees’ strike.

The chief minister directed the officials to enumerate the damage and losses accurately. He said he felt bad for having to visit the same district within 10 days; first due to cyclone and then because of heavy rain.

Kiran Reddy also visited Budumuru and inspected fields there and interacted with farmers.
