Dande Invites Plaints over Census

GUNTUR: Guntur district collector Kantilal Dande has urged the public to come up with any complaints or corrections relating to Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) relating to households by Aug 16.

Releasing the draft of SECC at the Collectorate here Friday, Kantilal Dande said that the government has initiated the SECC in 2011 to make sure that benefits from welfare schemes implemented by it reach the eligible.

The collector further said that complaints received will be examined and addressed by Sept 8. If any complaints are received even after that date, the people can apply to the appellate authority by Sept 16. After examining and solving them by Oct 6, the final survey will be released by Oct 8.

While the RDO or DRDA project director will act as appellate authority for rural areas, the municipal commissioner will be the appellate authority for Guntur. The joint collector will take appeals from municipalities.

The details of Socio Economic Caste Census 2011 will be displayed at all gram panchayats, mandal and divisional offices. The survey has been conducted in 57 mandals which were divided into 6,798 enumeration blocks and in 12 municipalities and the Guntur MunicIpal Corporation by dividing them 3,057 blocks. Interestingly, while Guntur ‘s population was 48,89,230 according to the 2011 census, it decreased to 46,43,524 in the draft survey of SECC.
