VIJAYAWADA: Health minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao has launched the Linear Accelerator (LINAC), a state-of-the-art radiation equipment used for treating patients suffering from cancer with less side effects, at Manipal Hospital here Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said availability of this highly advanced equipment was a boon for cancer patients in the state. Chief operating officer of Manipal Hospital Rakesh Singh said that the LINAC machine treats the tumour with a minimal damage to other critical organs of the body.
Consultant medical oncologist Dr Krishna Reddy, consultant Radiation oncologist Dr V Ramakrishna, consultant surgical oncologist Dr V Dharmendra and other doctors were present.
