VIJAYAWADA: A nine-year-old boy was drowned after falling into the Bandar Canal near the American Hospital bridge here Monday.
According to Suryaraopet police, K Dany (9), son of Andhra Pradesh State Police constable K Ravi Babu, resided in Mangalagiri and was studying Class III in Seventh Day Adventist School in Vijayawada.
Dany, on his way home, went near the bridge beside the school to wash his feet by standing on the bank of the canal. He accidentally slipped into the heavily flowing canal and drowned.
Suryaraopet police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, who arrived at the spot, launched a search and fished out Dany’s body after a two-hour search, late in the evening.
