Former minister and Nandyal Congress MLA Silpa Mohan Reddy, Nandikotkur MLA Labbi Venkatswamy and former Congress MLA Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, along with their supporters, joined the Telugu Desam in the presence of party president N Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday.

With the three leaders joining the TDP, the Kurnool Congress has become almost empty. Two former ministers from the district, TG Venkatesh and Erasu Pratap Reddy, joined the TDP on Sunday.  With YSR Congress stopping admitting leaders from Rayalaseema, leaders from the region are turning towards the TDP. The number is likely to go up soon.

Speaking to reporters later, Naidu said  his party was not averse to taking Congress leaders into its fold provided they had good track record. He said leaders of other parties realised that only TDP could develop Seemandhra.
