Issues pertaining to open cast mines and drinking water, which had been the major issues in every election, will continue to be the factors that will influence the voters thinking while deciding the fate of the contesting candidates in Peddapalli Lok Sabha constituency.
Comprising seven assembly segments including Chennur, Bellampalli and Mancherial in Adilabad district, Peddapalli constituency is represented by G Vivekanand, who contested on Congress party ticket, but later joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
Open cast mines related problems including people suffering from skin and respiratory disorders, problems of the people displaced from the villages that were acquired for mining, lack of safe drinking waters will be brought to the fore by the people and the contesting candidates.
Issues related to workers of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will be another important factor that can have an impact on the results. SCCL workers were an important part of Telangana movement and now with Telangana state a reality, the contesting candidates need to focus on addressing their demands.
Though it might look like an industrial corridor, there is no proper multi-speciality hospital in government sector that could take care of emergencies. As a result people depend on Hyderabad hospitals under such circumstances. This issue also needs to be considered.
On the other hand people of Ramagundam town, which falls under the constituency are facing drinking water scarcity for the past several years, but the elected representatives have failed to address the issue, though assurance were given for constructing a pipeline from Yellampally project, which is yet to materialise.
