Double Whammy for Tea Stall Owner in Maha Mishap

MACHILIPATNAM: Tuesday turned out to be a dreadful day for Golla Prasad, who runs a tea stall at Paraspet Centre at Machiliptanam in Krishna district, for he lost both his wife and daughter in the ghastly bus accident that occurred in Maharashtra state.

“For whom should I live now,” sobbed Golla Prasad uncontrollably, even as his relatives and friends tried to console him. Prasad’s wife Golla Lakshmi (45) and only daughter Golla Reshma (20) were among the eight pilgrims who were killed when a private travel bus fell into a river near Pandaripuram in Maharashtra in the wee hours of Tuesday.

It was for their daughter’s career that the couple shifted to Machilipatnam from Tenali, four years ago and started running a small tea shop in the busy Paraspet Centre. Even Prasad’s relatives were not able to digest the news.

Reshma was a bright student. Prasad and Lakshmi wanted their daughter to pursue higher education and exel in life. Reshma had completed her Intermediate at Padmavathi Mahila Hindu College and wanted to join a course in nursing.

But, the accident crushed not just her dreams, but also her fathers’, the relatives lamented.
