VISAKHAPATNAM : With preliminary investigations indicating disturbance in the dredged depths of the Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram ports under the impact of the Hudhud cyclone, both the ports commissioned surveys to ascertain the extent of damage in the harbour area.

Normally, after any storm crosses the coast, underwater sand deposits in harbour areas increase. Going by the scale of destruction caused by Hudhud, authorities suspect substantial damage.

Worried about the disturbance of the dredged depths, currently the entire collective  of the VPT is engaged in efforts to restore normalcy in the port.
