HYDERABAD: Highly impressed with the work of state-owned China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC), Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, urged the company to work with AP in construction of dams and linking of rivers.

On the third day of his tour, Naidu met CGGC executives and urged them to invest in AP. “If you showcase your work and experience by supporting AP, India will learn from these models,” he said.

According to a press release issued by AP CMO here on Tuesday, the CGGC has expertise in water conservancy, wind power, electromechanical installation, power transmission, highways, railways, bridges, municipal works, airports, ports, waterways, the design, construction of industrial and civil buildings.

The company could work closely with AP’s irrigation department in diverting flood waters to drought-hit areas of the State, he observed. The CGGC informed Naidu that the company could also look into funding and equity models for carrying out projects in AP.

Earlier in the day, during a meeting with top executives of China Harbour Engineering Company, Naidu asked the company to explore creation of a Chinese industrial park which will have all Chinese firms under one roof.

Stating that the company is keen on replicating their China experience in AP, Chairman of the company Mo Wenhe said the company has strong presence in infrastructure and its core business involves constructions of ports and airports.

“The company has expertise in roads, railway and civil engineering. Our roads business is worth $60 billion,”  Wenhe said.

“We are aware of AP’s advantages of long coastline, natural and mineral resources,” he added.

Guizhou province delegation which met Naidu said it was keen to become sister province of AP in software.

Since AP has a good human resource base in software, Guizhou province would like to become a sister province to AP in software development. “We are also interested in wind power projects in AP,” the delegation members said.

The Guizhou delegation consisted of companies such as: Special Steel Company Ltd, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Electric Power Construction Company, Keda Clean Energy, Xiamen Huate Group Corproation, China Transmission, Innogreen, Shougang Guiyang Special Steel Co, Power Construction Corporation of China.

Stating that they want to contribute to the development of AP, Guizhou delegation members said, “We have already made our representation to the Central government to go to AP and invest there. We also invite AP companies to set up shop in our province.”

Guizhou, which depends on big data and IT services, has the potential to become China’s IT services centre, they said. “We look forward to combine our hardware advantages with India’s software strength,” a  Guizhou province leader said.

Inviting Guizhou province companies to work with the AP government in various sectors, Naidu said, “There is lot of scope for investments opportunities in AP. I welcome the delegation to visit AP and set up an industrial park.”

“You can finalise the deal and announce it when our Prime Minister visits China next month,” Naidu said.

The delegation informed Naidu that they brought the Silk-road International Investment Corporation.

The $40-billion Silk Road Fund is designed to finance China-proposed “Belt and Road”.  “Belt and Road” refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (MSR) initiatives proposed by China in 2013 for improved cooperation with countries in a vast part of Asia, Europe and Africa.

Later in the day, Naidu met International Department Central Committee of Communist Party of China (IDCPC) minister Wang Jairui in Beijing.

“I’ve learnt that you are building a new State. I wish we develop a strong business and cultural relationship between the two countries,” Jairui said.
