VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has, for the first time in the country, launched a social network integrated services on mobile through which the denizens of the city can utilise the services offered by the civic body, sitting prettily at home. The app provides the facility of mobile tax payments through net banking, credit and debit cards.
Mayor K Sridhar launched the mobile app in the municipal corporation office in presence of all corporators on Friday and described it as an important chapter in the history of the corporation.
Disclosing the details, municipal commissioner G Veerapandian said that the mobile application was designed and developed for the VMC by Code Tree Software Solutions. It is first time that such services were launched by a civic body in the country. The app services also include news and events that are updated on daily basis with links to major newspapers.
‘My Space’ in the app consists of forum and alerts services. ‘Forum’ is a chat interface for users to post comments, upload images and share their views with the citizens. Alerts from the VMC on messages, bills, commissioner’s messages, events and important alerts are sent to the users and can be viewed under ‘Alert’ inbox.
‘Grievances’ option will facilitate users to post their grievances and view the complaint status services. ‘Tax Office’ will assist in knowing details of taxes due by the users and tax calculator is useful in calculating tax by providing necessary inputs. ‘Pay My Bill’ service will enable the VMC mobile app users to make bill payments and other VMC service payments through their mobile phone itself. The VMC has integrated mobile payment services in the application.
‘Apply for Services’ option will have application forms to apply for trade license, fire NOC, underground drainage. ‘View Status’ provides information on status of the application. ‘Committee’ consist of information on council agenda and standing committee agenda. Committee meetings on various agendas held in the VMC are posted by VMC to download for user reference.
‘Tenders’ option consists of various tenders released by the civic body for users or business to download and participate. ‘Home’ button on top of the home screen helps users to return to the home page from any page in the application. ‘Profile’ button on top of the home screen helps users to go to the personal profile and ‘assets profile page in the application, while ‘Alerts’ button helps them to go to the list of all alerts in the application.
