AP Dist Collectors get Power to Cancel Land Allotments

Express News Service

HYDERABAD: The State government has issued orders empowering district collectors to cancel or resume allotted lands in case of violation of conditions or non-utilisation of the allotted land in favour of private individuals and organisations and also government organisations and departments.

This will allow the government to cancel or resume all land allotments made by the previous government to various private companies.

AP Cabinet sub-committee on corruption has recommended to the government to cancel the land allotment to Vanpic Project, Lepakshi Knowledge Hub Pvt Ltd and Kineta Power Ltd in the wake of alleged irregularities and violation of rules.

By authorising collectors to cancel and resume land allotted by the previous government to private parties, it has made its intention clear that soon all the lands allotted to the three firms and others would be taken back.

According to the GO, for all future land allocations one more condition would be indicated that “for violation of conditions as well as for non-utilisation of land, the collector of the district concerned would be the authority to cancel and resume the land from the allottee”.

Observing that all rules were violated, the sub-committee on corruption recommended termination of the agreement allotting 18,878 acres to Vanpic Ports Pvt Ltd and resumption of the  government land of 6,608 acre.

The committee also recommended the cancellation of 8,844 acres allotted to Lepakshi Knowledge Hub in Anantapur district. The company moved the court and secured interim orders against land cancellation. The government is planning to go in for an appeal and get the orders vacated.
