Drive against Ticketless Travel Yields Rs 3.4 Cr

VIJAYAWADA:The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway (SCR) has earned  Rs 3.43 crore through massive ticket-checking drives conducted during the month of June, 2015.  

Under the supervision of Ashok Kumar, divisional railway manager, N S R  Prasad, additional divisional railway manager and N V Satyanarayana, senior divisional commercial manager along with other commercial officers conducted checks on ticketless travellers in Vijayawada Division during the month of June, 2015, an official press release said on Wednesday.

As a result of these checks, 1,11,469 passengers travelling without tickets and carrying unbooked luggage were detected and an amount of Rs 3,43,34,775 was  realised. As many as 114 passengers who failed to pay the Railway dues were prosecuted.

CLEANLINESS DRIVES

 Cleanliness drives were also conducted all over the division during the month of June, 2015. As many as 1,994 cases of littering on the Railway premises were detected and an amount of Rs 3,98,800 were collected from offenders, the press release said.
