TIRUPATI: The TTD-run Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) will organise an international conference on ‘Vedas - Science’ in the temple town in November this year.

Conveying this information to newsmen here on Sunday on the occasion of the 9th Foundation Day of the University, its Vice-Chancellor Prof KE Devanathan added that an advisory committee would be formed for the successful conduct of the international conference. He said that the aim of the conference was to provide a platform to eminent  Vedic scholars and scientists to discuss and exchange ideas on modern science subjects like Metallurgy, Earth Sciences. Etc., and to identify potential groundwater sources, etc., which were extensively found in the ancient texts.

He further said that ‘Vedas - Science’ conference was aimed at unearthing the scientific aspects in the Vedas and to dispel the myth that our ancient Vedas were confined only to rituals and to stress that they should be conceived as a global resource for various types of knowledge, including sciences.

Explaining the achievements of the SVVU and its future programmes, Devanathan said that the university had roped in various institutions to study the Vedas to find out the scientific concepts in it.
