The Nava Nirmana Deeksha to be held at Vijayawada, is aimed at eradicating poverty from the state

HYDERABAD: Despite objections from the opposition parties, Andhra Pradesh government is moving forward to hold its proposed ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ across the state on June 2, the first anniversary of  bifurcation of undivided AP, in a big way.

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday held a marathon teleconference from his residence here with state-level to village-level party leaders and asked them to ensure that the proposed Deeksha was  successful.

“The proposed Deeksha is not against anybody. It is aimed at eradicating poverty from the state. Hence, during the Nava Nirmana Deeksha from June 2 to 7, the state government will focus on poverty elimination,” Naidu told his party leaders. Meanwhile, the state government has decided to ferry its employees from Hyderabad to Vijayawada by arranging special buses for them to take part in the Deeksha, which will be presided over by chief minister Naidu on Tuesday.

Already, chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao asked all heads of departments (HoDs) and district collectors to ensure that all government staff take part in the Deeksha to be held at Vijayawada.

CM to Target Congress

The main reason behind chief minister Naidu’s decision to hold Nava Nirmana Deeksha, according to analysts, is to target the Congress Party, which is trying to revive its sagging fortunes inAP with its demand for ‘special status’ by recalling how AP was divided against the wishes of the people.
