AP Gets 161 IAS, TS 133 in Final List

HYDERABAD: There were not many surprises when the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) allotted IAS and IPS officers to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states on Thursday.

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, who tried to continue in Telangana cadre, was allotted to Andhra Pradesh cadre in the final allotment. The Pratyush Sinha committee, which allocated All India Service officers, took into consideration spouse cases and made minor changes. Some swapping cases as per eligibility too were considered. However, some IAS officers from Andhra Pradesh, who wanted to be included in the Telangana cadre in the final list were disappointed. They include Andhra Pradesh irrigation secretary Aditya Nath Das.As many as four IPS officers allotted to Andhra Pradesh cadre in the draft list were allotted to Telangana cadre in the final list.

IPS officer Anuradha was allotted to Andhra Pradesh as the DoPT considered her case on spouse basis. Likewise, Rajat Bhargav, joint secretary in Ministry of Finance in Delhi, was allotted Andhra Pradesh cadre. The sanctioned strength of IAS officers in the combined Andhra Pradesh was 374. Out of these posts, only 294 were working. Of them, Andhra Pradesh got 161 and Telangana 133.

While the number of AP IAS officers fell by seven in the final list, the number of IAS officers allotted to Telangana was increased from 128 to 133. The sanctioned strength of IPS officers in combined AP was 256 and out of them only 211 officers were working. Of them, AP got 116 and  Telangana 95 IPS officers.
