VISAKHAPATNAM:In yet another horrific incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver at an isolated place near Bheemili here on May 11. However, the incident came to light when the victim’s family members approached the IV-Town police the next day.
The police arrested the accused, identified as 22-year-old K Gowri Naidu of Narsimhanagar area in the city, Wednesday.
The police said that the victim, a Class V student, was often accompanying her sister, who sells coconuts on a push cart at Thatichetlapalem in the city. Gowri Naidu had developed a rapport with the girl, while buying coconuts regularly at their cart, and used to take her to the beach and other places in his auto, in a deceitful way.
On May 11, when the victim was returning home after delivering food to her sister at the push cart, Gowri Naidu took her in his auto to Bheemili on the pretext of showing her the beach. However, he raped her in an isolated area there and dropped her back home.
The girl told her family members, who lodged a complaint with the police. The cops, acting on a tip-off, nabbed the accused Wednesday and seized his auto.
