VIJAYAWADA:In a freak mishap at Kondapalli within the limits of Ibrahimpatnam police station on Saturday, one person died and 11 others were injured.
Two APSRTC buses collided with each other due to poor visibility on account of smoke emanating from a burning garbage pile on the roadside. A woman identified as Y Lakshmi (35) died undergoing treatment. The condition of the drivers of both the buses and four others is said to be serious.
Police registered a case and took up investigation.
Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao visited the injured at the hospital. Meanwhile, APSRTC announced Rs 1 lakh ex gratia to the victim’s family.
