Thermodynamics Unravelled in Simple Terms

VISAKHAPATNAM: Renowned chemical engineer and author Norman P Lieberman explained the fundamental aspects of distillation, steam turbines and thermodynamics in highly practical and easily understandable manner during his seminar on ‘Thermodynamics’ here Friday. The seminar was organised by HPCL-Visakh Refinery at its Waltair Park auditorium in Siripuram area.

“The lecture is very interesting with simple explanation for the chemical engineers, on principles of distillation thermodynamics,” said S Subba Rao, head of chemical engineering department at Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences (ANITS).

Professor MSN Murthy from GVP College and students, PVS Prathyusha from Andhra University College of Engineering and K Sai Manjari from ANITS - also felt that Lieberman gave good material for students to understand thermodynamics in the simplest method. Lieberman has over 45 years of experience in the field of chemical engineering and has scores of books in chemical engineering to his credit which are popular world-wide. He has conducted over 300 such sessions all over the world and more than 18,000 engineers have benefited through such interactions.

Over 550 students from chemical and mechanical engineering streams attended the seminar along with some professors from various engineering colleges including Andhra University, GITAM, Gayatri Vidya Parishad, MVGR, GMRIT and ANITS which are located in and around Visakhapatnam.

In his message, executive director-Visakh Refinery G Sriganesh asked the students participating in the seminar to derive maximum benefit from Lieberman.
