VISAKHAPATNAM: Commemorating the 71st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States, the Human Rights Forum, in association with Moment for People-centered Development, will be holding a silent vigil with solar-powered micro lights at the Buddha statue in front of Viswapriya Function Hall on the Beach Road at 6 pm on Saturday.

“We are extremely concerned about the recent state government proposal of developing 30,000 mw of nuclear energy to make Andhra Pradesh the nation’s nuclear hub,” said VS Krishna of Human Rights Forum. He pointed that there is a strong link between nuclear power and nuclear weapons and that civil nuclear programmes contribute to the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
