Kamineni Undergoes Knee Surgery at GGH

GUNTUR: Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas underwent right knee replacement surgery in Government General Hospital (GGH) here Friday.

After admitting the minister Thursday night and conducting the necessary medical examinations, a team of expert orthopaedics, including GGH Orthopaedic department head Dr. Prasanth, Dr. Prasada Rao from Care Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr. Jagadish from BIRRD hospital in Tirupati and B Narendra Reddy from Guntur performed the surgery Friday morning.

Giving details of the surgery, GGH superintendent Dr. DS Raju Naidu said that the surgery started at 8 am and was completed by 9.40 am.

Stating that the team of expert doctors successfully conducted the surgery, he observed that the initiative of the minister to undergo the surgery in GGH, boosted the morale of the Doctors of GGH and also created confidence among the common people that they could get good treatment in government hospitals. The minister will be discharged from GGH either on Sunday or on Monday.

Later, speaking to mediapersons in the evening, Kamineni thanked the doctors and GGH staff for extending him the best treatment.

On the occasion, he also announced to develop government hospitals on the lines of corporate hospitals.
