VISAKHAPATNAM: South India’s biggest deemed university GITAM University on Monday appointed two eminent personalities in Pro Vice-Chancellor position to meet the growing needs of GITAM Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad campuses.
Noted human resource management expert K Sivarama Krishna will be the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the GITAM Visakhapatnam campus. He authored 12 books and published more than 15 articles in various national and international journals. He served as Chairman, NIPM Visakhapatnam Chapter, for two terms and also served as chairman, ISTD Visakhapatnam Chapter. He specialised in international HRM and also completed a major research project sanctioned by UGC on HRD interventions in technical education. He is currently NAAC committee member. IIT Madras former registrar N Sivaprasad will be the GITAM Hyderabad campus Pro Vice-Chancellor. He completed several sponsored projects and as a consultant helped a number of industries to develop their products. Currently he is principal coordinator for developing a vehicle for deep sea (6 km depth) mining. He has completed about 55 developmental projects for organisations such as BHEL, ISRO and BEL, which has led to indigenous development of components in critical applications. He has four patents and some of which are in production. He has adapted textbooks on Machine Design, Mechanics of Materials and Engineering Mechanics (Statics and Dynamics) published by Tata McGraw Hill Book Company.
On the occasion, GITAM president MVVS Murthi felicitated both the experts here on Monday on the University campus and hoped that they would bring new dimension to the GITAM University in coming years. Vice-Chancellor MS Prasada Rao and registrar M Potharaju congratulated them.
